Cooper liked my music so much he had me on a T.V. show he put together for The Education Network (T.E.N.), INSIDE THE MIND OF A SONGWRITER, that was May 1, 2007. It was filmed at the Cuillo Centre for the Arts in Downtown West Palm Beach. Jeff Silbar was also in the show. He co-wrote WIND BENEATH MY WINGS. This T.V. show has been repeatedly shown on The Education Network during it's first 6 months.
I was in the middle of recording my own original CD. My mom would take me to Melody's store, Boomer's Music, sometimes up to 5 times a week for a couple of hours each time to rehearse or work on another song.
My passion for singing, playing guitar and songwriting had become a major part of my life. I had hoped to go far with it. Then in an instance everything changed, I was killed in a car accident on June 30, 2007.
Singing at Nicole's
Tavern in Wellington
Hi my name is Laura Brooke Buonpastore. I am 14-years-old. I just graduated from BAK Middle School of the Arts this past May and was accepted into Dreyfoos High School of the Arts in West Palm Beach, FL to begin 9th grade this August.
I have been working with my music teacher, Melody Stuart, since I was 7-years-old, starting with voice lessons. I also tried learning piano, but decided it wasn't the right choice for me. Melody suggested the guitar since I wanted to sing and play an instrument... so I did. I fell in love with it.
Melody believed in me so much she would have me sing at some of her gigs. She helped me get into competitions and other special events and venues around the West Palm Beach area like the South Florida Fair Starz of the Future Competition, SunFest, Nicole's Tavern, and Green Markets
in West Palm Beach, Royal Palm Beach and Boca Raton among others.
Melody would sometimes call us up and tell us to hurry and come over because she had worked out a bridge or other part of my song and my mom would stop everything and run me right over.
Then the time came that we all wanted my songs to be recorded. We finally found Cooper Getschal with his own studio, Tempo Key Recording Studio in Jupiter. We started recording with him in January 2007. He was great. He took me seriously and liked my music.
